I cannot tell you how much I genuinely love being a senior photographer! In my ten years in business, I have had the privilege of photographing everything; from weddings, to babies, to families…you name it. Hands down, photographing senior portraits has my heart! Last year about this time, I had the thought that it would also be fun to be able to capture young teens or preteens especially a group of friends. I set out to launch Thrive Teens. This idea came to me in the spring and I had two amazing sessions with two groups of friends with two really unique themes. I fell in love with the process! Planning a portrait session that had a theme to it and pulling it all together was really fun and tapped into my creative side. But, by far, the shoot itself was a total blast! One of the things that made it so much fun for me as a photographer is that these girls were having such a fabulous time together and also absolutely loving having their pictures taken. I loved the giggles and silliness and the chance to capture this specific time period in their lives. I felt like I was onto something. Then, June came and senior portrait season came in it’s usual jam packed weeks and months and Thrive Teens had to simmer on the back burner.
This February, I was able to get these two beautiful best friends together for a really cool urban shoot in the West Bottoms of Kansas City. It has taken me a bit of time to share the images from the shoot since I was rebuilding my website, but I couldn’t be more thrilled with them! I am so hopeful that I will be able to shoot more of these teen sessions in the future.
